Good things come for those who wait. In most industries, the first big test to young people is to pierce into the industry itself, the less popular the industry is, the harder to pierce into.
When Caurora first met Wicked, Mulan and 4th (previous episode), he entered an interstate baking competition. As a new, young nobody, her effort had gone unnoticed and the cake disappeared after the very early judging round. From 4th's memory they went on and got drunk afterward, and moved on with their lives.
Wicked experienced her ups and downs and still reminds in her industry, she left very briefly trying to discover if she was in love with what she was doing, turns out she was, and she got back hungry and fought off anyone who was in her way. There would be more and worse for her to fight off in the future, but she is no longer a newbie.
Unlike Wicked, Caurora constantly stay within the career of her passion, and she always the quiet achiever who worked hard on her craft. She entered the same competition almost every year since her first, she realised they always award the professionals, she had gone unnoticed for a long time.
Most Gen Y people are in their early stage in the work force, this interesting generation was blessed with individuality and strong opinions which made them proud to be who they are. Their strong will provide them individualistic and innovative approach through their studies, for those who dare to try, usually would achieve well in their university. If your employer is an open minded person in a popular industry, it is likely your career would sky-rocket and turn you into a little star just like those 1980s/90s movies. But the truth is, most people don't have bosses who treat them like treasures, in fact, as long as they were not treated as trash, that's lucky already.
Caurora lost her drive at work but she is looking for a way to get the drive back (previous episode), like working on her relationship she tries to maintain the passion slowly and surely - It is ok for her not becoming a star, but she wants to be passionate about it.
She missed the baking competition the previous year, and she told herself, "if I miss this again, I may never feel like entering in the future." So she signed up for it. Up to 2 days before the competition, she was still waiting for her registration to be confirmed, when Wicked, who happens to know someone in the organisation, she offered to chase up or put in a few good words for Caurora. The confirmation arrived moments before Wicked picked up her phone, Caurora is confident in her skill, there was no need for Wicked to call anyone.
Preparation for the competition had a high price for Caurora, she had to miss the ultimate Sex and the City 2 Night out that John-asmine was organising, which happened to be the night before the competition; and Caffine didn't went to the night out on her behalf, because he knows it is his job to stand by her.
Noon on the competition day, Wicked dragged her vodka-soaked ass off the bed, vaguely remember RoAriel told her she drank too much and she was trying to figure out if it was Mulan whom drove her home or not. She put on just enough make-up to make her look reasonable, as she called Caurora. "Honey, I'm running a bit late." Caurora said "I won my category!" Wicked arrived and gave Caurora a hug, she almost threw up on Caurora's back.
Later it was announced the new rule that professionals will not be eligible for the best in show award, Caurora was announced winner.
It would've been nice if Wicked can see everything from the beginning to the end, but knowing Caurora's hard work is paying off, is simply priceless. The awards symbolise the beginning of what can be a bright future and a road to an established career. it is true to say she will be facing more challenge if she choose to follow on; but on the other hand, there would be more opportunities opening up if she drives for it.
Good things comes for those who wait, but waiting is not the only element, one also need to keep improving, turn blind eye to the bad things people said or one's own bad experiences. Then when the good thing comes, you can grab onto it.
