One argued how far a man need to go to be guilty for cheating and the other was justifying how women can be proud of themselves and hinted not to getting disappointed if your man cheats.
Sounds like the mass culture is moving towards an attempt to rationalise potential relationship disaster. Speaking of mass culture, in the 2010 Sex and the City sequel, both Carrie and Mr Big found their validation that "I still got it" by flirting. As for Carrie, she was 'playing with fire' because the person she was flirting with was her ex.
If one flirts with an ex then kiss. Single or not, disaster can happen.
If the relationship worked the person would had not be an ex, but why some people did that? Some may try to walk the high road by befriending the ex; sometime people do it to satisfy the residual feelings; in a lot of occasions, people do it for self-validation - knowing the ex would've found you attractive so there's a higher chance to know "I still got it".
A while before the SATC movie, John-asmine, RoAriel and Wicked went to yum-cha and the topic came up between these 3 very different but strong bitches.
John-asmine enjoys her single life, exploring new territories in life and moving forward successfully - if she flirt and kiss with her ex-fiance she can be returning to the deep emotional hole where she took a very long time to recover; and the effort of P-Yiona and the bitches would had been rendered useless.
RoAriel figured out now she befriended her ex, flirting wouldn't work even if they try, its only going to look funny. Given Chaddy met her ex and the men got along well, just like Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher, RoAriel as Demi, except the age gap.
As for Wicked, most men she dated were for amusement, which both her or the man (men) aware of. But she enjoy befriending them because their spouse would be freaking out with concerns (which Wicked love knowing they're threatened), and in an extend glad to see how secure she felt about Chrisyero.
Perhaps it is all about how one let the relationship works and how much confidence one has for his/her companion. The bitches are not saying you have to fulfill each other's fantasy, you can say no if you don't want it; but a little harmless fantasy between you and your date/companion may be good for the mind. Doesn't matter if he's a man you just met at a bar or you'd been married for years, a little flirt may give a bitch a bit of confidence. As long as one know where the line's drawn - there's a big difference between a little wink and a sloppy kiss...
Sometime, flirting is compliment in action, it always feel good to be praised and know one is still attractive regardless of relationship status. As long as you know where the boundaries are.
