It was years ago when the disappointment on her parent's face and she realise she will be a lesbian as she nature directs her to be or become a very unhappy repressed heterosexual always know something is not right with her life. So she moved out of her parent's home about a year ago and start living her life fullest the way she wants. And then she met her girlfriend.
They met at her Women's Studies classes. Bell feel like she found her cosmic twin because they are much alike intellectually, it was the exact connection she is looking for.
One very important person in Bell's life is her Best friend and flatmate Slow White. As she was leaving her parent's house it was Slow whom put a roof on top of her head. Knowingly it will not be permanent, given Slow is getting married with her boyfriend of 5 years, but she is blessed to be there and would like to be surrounded by a number of good people.
She knows in her lifetime she and her girlfriend will never be able to get married, even when same sex marriage is legalised her family will never accept who she is and the relationship she has. When Slow first plan her wedding she included Belle to be part of it, she was still single at the time, she would plan ahead how to fit her in, vaguely give her a title "Maid of Honor", ask her to prepare a speech and slide show for her wedding. This is the way Bell can feel a certain sense of normality
